Overview

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime smartphone runs on the company’s proprietary MIUI 11. It is based on a 6.53-inch touchscreen display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 2GHz octa-core processor. The phone comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime runs on Android 10 and is backed by a 5020mAh

non-removable battery. It packs a quad rear camera setup which includes a 13 MP primary camera; a second 8 MP camera, a third 5 MP camera, and a fourth 2 MP camera. In the front, the phone has an 8 MP selfie camera. 

Redmi had launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone in India earlier this year. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, and runs on Android 10. It has a quad rear camera setup with a 48 MP primary camera and a front 16 MP selfie camera. Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone is priced starting at Rs 12,999 in India.

 

The Redmi 9i is priced starting at Rs. 8,299 for the base 4 GB + 64 GB storage variant while the 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant is available for Rs. 9,299. The phone has a MediaTek octa-core processor and a single 13 MP rear camera.

 

Design

The phone features a 6.53-inch full HD Plus IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The phone also has the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security and is P2i splash-proof. It has dimensions of 163.32 x 77.01 x 9.1mm and weighs 198 grams. It is available in Space Blue, Mint Green, Matte Black, and Sunrise Flare colours.

Camera

The smartphone has a quad rear camera setup which includes a 13 MP primary image sensor and an 8 MP secondary image sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens that has a 118-degree field of view. The phone has a 5 MP macro shooter and a 2 MP depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8 MP front camera sensor.

Performance

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, paired with 4GB DDR4x RAM. The Redmi 9 Prime runs on Android 10 based company’s proprietary MIUI 11 on top. Sensors included on the smartphone are an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime also comes with face unlock for ease of access.

Battery and Storage

The phone comes with up to 128 GB of onboard storage on the Redmi 9 Prime, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB). The Redmi 9 Prime packs a 5,020mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. However, the phones come bundled with a 10W charger.

Connectivity

Connectivity options included in the smartphone are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C port.
